These terms cover the xAlarm app for iPhone and iPad. Using the app means accepting them.

What the app does

xAlarm sets alarms and asks you to answer a question about a short lesson before the alarm will stay off. Lessons are written by a language model from the topic, level and language you choose.

This is not a safety device

Do not rely on xAlarm alone when the consequence of oversleeping matters. Like every alarm app, it cannot ring if the device is switched off, out of battery, or if the app has been force-quit, and the sound depends on the device's volume, which no app is allowed to raise. Set a second alarm for anything important.

Lessons are generated, not taught by a person

Lesson text and questions come from a language model. They can be wrong, oddly worded or incomplete, and no person reviews them before you see them. Nothing in the app is professional, medical, legal or educational advice, and it is not a qualification of any kind.

Subscriptions

• xAlarm Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, offered monthly or annually.
• Prices are shown in the app before purchase and are charged to your Apple Account at confirmation.
• It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and renewal is charged within 24 hours of that.
• Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings, or in the app under Topics → Settings → Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Payments, refunds and cancellations are handled by Apple. Refund requests go to Apple, not to us.
• Without a subscription the app remains usable: alarms, the full lesson and challenge, one learning topic and one sleep sound stay free. A free alarm rings once. Pro adds alarms that keep returning until the questions are answered, the other sleep sounds, more topics, the streak history, and control over difficulty and how many questions are asked.

Using it fairly

The app talks to a lesson service that is paid for per request. Do not try to extract credentials from the app, use the service outside the app, work around its limits, or automate requests. Access can be withdrawn if that happens.

Your content and your data

What you answer and how you do stays on your device. What is sent to write a lesson, and what is recorded, is described in the Privacy Policy.

Availability

The lesson service may be unavailable, rate-limited or changed at any time. When it is, the app falls back to lessons already stored on the device, and alarms continue to work.

Liability

The app is provided as it is, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for missed alarms, lateness, lost sleep, or any loss that follows from relying on the app — which is why the section above asks you not to rely on it alone.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use the app after a change accepts it.
